The rumour was the Darabont was going to replace the old writers with freelancers. That idea was scrapped. Now a new writing team is being put together with Glen Mazzara leading it. So I got to wondering. ”How did these two TV figures get together”? So below is my idea of how this relationship came about.
The Walking Dead the Motion Comic – Sorry I forgot…January 12th, 2011When I started this blog I wanted it to be about everything interesting related to The Walking Dead. Well, I forgot something. I forgot all about the ” The Walking Dead Motion Comic” So here it is… I thought that it was a gret idea be since the tv showaired I don’t thing we’ll be seeing anymore installments. Here they are from 1 -9, with more to come Zombie Rule #1 : Ability to run is based on the amount of time a zombie has been undead, and how much decay has set in. Zombie Rule #2 : Zombies decay but at a much slower rate than humans, and it’s still possible to differentiate between young and old zombies. Zombie Rule #3 : Zombies are like lions: if they’ve eaten, you can walk by them without fear, but a pack of hungry zombies will attack you. Zombie Rule #4 : The quickest speed of any zombie is a shambling run. see Night of the Living Dead. NO sprinters exist. Zombie Rule #5 : Zombies are not dexterous. They cannot pick up or use any items more complex than a rock or a stick. Zombie Rule #6 : Zombies have poor eyesight but they do have a strong sense of smell. (Let’s not forget a good sense of hearing as well.) Zombie Rule #7 : Zombies cannot speak but can communicate by pack mentality. The herd tends to move together if they sight food. (should be smell and or hear food) Zombie Rule #8 : There is no overt recognition of people or places, there is a sense of familiarity that can dictate where a zombie moves. Zombie Rule #9 : There’s no known cause of the zombie mutation, but it’s suspected to be a virus or infection. Daniel Kanemoto loves The Walking Dead too…October 2nd, 2010Daniel Kanemoto is recieving rave reviews all over the net. Why you ask? Well he apparently, on his own created a mock opening sequence for upcoming “The Walking Dead” tv show. They’re right. It’s really good. Check it out… THE WALKING DEAD “Opening Titles” from Daniel Kanemoto on Vimeo. AMC’s latest featurette for The Walking DeadOctober 6th, 2010AMC release a new featurette for the The Walking Dead. It has Robert Kirkman giving a synopsis of the story behnd The Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead…Novel ideasOctober 13th, 2010The big news nowadays is that horror writer Jay Bonansinga and Robert Kirkman are going to team up to write three novels set in the The Walking Dead universe. Jay Bonansinga has several novels to his under his belt, Perfect Victim, Twisted and Shattered. At this time no one knows if the stories will be about Rick and the other that we know and love or if the dynamic duo will creating a new set of characters. Also no title names have been dropped. St. Martins Press’s Thomas Dunne books will be the company handling the publishing of the future novels. The Making of… The Walking Dead: a Micro documentaryOctober 14th, 2010If you haven’t seen it yet then here is your chance to check out the micro-documentary from AMC about the making of the Walking Dead tv show. I love the Walking Dead on SquidooOctober 14th, 2010I just wanted to let you know that I also have a lens on Squidoo http://www.squidoo.com/i-love-the-walking-dead I got a twitter storm setup, it has Youtube videos and cool Flickr pics. So check it out The Director of The Walking Dead wants to stick with it…October 20th, 2010In an interview with Blastr, Frank Darabont, the brillant director (my personal opinion), who is helming The Walking Dead. Stated that if the show is picked up for a second season that he’d want to stay on. He was quoted as saying the following: “I didn’t get into it to set it in motion and then wave goodbye as other people sail down the canal. I don’t want to be an absentee landlord. I want to keep my hands in the thing I am really loving doing.” Well Mr. Darabont I pray the show is picked up for years to come and that you continue with the show. My thoughts on Issue #78October 27th, 2010 Ok so I’m reading the latest issue , #78 and “Maggie” is pissing me off! What is wrong with this girl? Let your man do what a man’s gotta do. You ladies reading this are probably going to call me a M.C.P.. I don’t care. Maggie you’re in the middle of the bloody Zombie Apocalypse, bloody Z-Day for crying out loud. So grow a pair. I say. You nurture little Sophia and let Glenn get to protecting your makeshift family. Looks like there is no rest for the wicked. Douglas has given up the mantle to Rick. Like we didn’t see that coming. Also it’s too bad the band of brigands at the outskirts of town had to show up playing the fool. If I was with them I’d be bringing a peace offering. Especially after seeing the bossman go down. I say again, they’re “Bloody idiots”. I liked the show. I was entertained…November 3rd, 2010Like thousands of viewers I spent my Hallowe’en evening preparing for the number 1 show of the new year. My conclusion, The Walking Dead is amazing I really enjoyed it.
I have to warn you. I am going to rip this show apart. I can see the look of confusion on your face and that is OK, it’s just what I do. When me and the guys get together and discuss our favourite TV shows and movies, we rip them apart. We throw in the good along with the bad and that’s how we have fun.
So the good, they did a great job on the zombies. They’re interesting. I enjoyed the fact that these undead still have some residual memories of their former lives. That they are able to recognized things, locations and possibly people that they used to have an emotional attachment to. This was evident when the little girl zombie picked up her favourite teddy bear and was walking around with it. Also with Morgan‘s wife when she kept showing up at the house that he and Duane were hiding out in. Some will argue that the noise attracted her but I beg to differ. I think it’s because she died in that house why she kept hanging around. That first night when she showed up is one of my favorite scenes, how she was checking out the house with her head bobbing from side to side. Then she tried the doorknob, oohh it creeped me out. I had to rewind that part over a couple of times.
I also like their speed, they’re not too fast like the runners in 28 Days and they’re not your typical slow shufflers. They’re fast enough for when they move you better start runnning. You’ll get away but you better run … fast. Just another reason to shed the pounds and get into an exercise program. (I’m giving my more ”buttery” readers the “Look”)
In my next post I’ll touch on what I didn’t like about episode 1.
Man, I just love The Walking Dead!
I liked the show. I was entertained… (Continued)November 5th, 2010So in my last post I touched on what I liked in episode 1. Now this post is going to be about what I disliked. First, what wrong with Rick’s bandage? The man got shot in his lower shoulder. So why is the bandage wrapped around his gut? It should be around his chest.
Second, what wrong with Rick? What happened to common sense? Imagine you wake up in a hospital or … you know what wherever. You just wake up. You don’t know where you are and you decide to go explore your surroundings. Doesn’t common sense tell you to find your clothes? Ok, he’s in a hospital and he leaves his room to find a nurse. Once you check out the floor and don’t see or hear anyone wouldn’t you: A – Go back to your room and find your clothes. Even in the comic this is one of the first things Rick does. Third, You’re in a hospital where sick people go so why are you traipsing around barefoot? I have friends and family who work in hospitals and shleping around barefoot in one is something that they wouldn’t advise. All that blood, body fluids germs and viruses. Nope! Shoes ! Get me some shoes! Then you go outside and see rows of dead bodies and you decide to walk among them. Nasty! You couldn’t pay me enough to do that. Rick is nasty! Fourth, this is one of my pet peeves about the horror genre. Why do people never turn on lights? Everybody knows the monsters lurk in the dark. Turn on the blasted lights! Why is Rick going down pitch black stair wells? We know that there is power going to the building. So find the light switch! Finally, one of my other peeves in horror movies/shows is how the characters never believe that what’s happening in front of them is happening. I mean the story is set in the present day. So I believe that if you are reading this you understand that if you see a guy has fangs in his mouth you’re dealing with a vampire. So, if there is a half rotted corpse dragging itself along the ground chances are it’s a ZOMBIE! I can understand feeling shock and surprise that you are actually seeing one. But denial?1? Please! Man, I’m gonna have fun with this show. This is why I love The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Game…November 7th, 2010******** SPOILER ALERT******** When I started this blog my thought was to talk about the Walking Dead comics and TV show. Well, AMC has now flipped the script. They released an online game called Atlanta Run. In this game you play Glenn. Your goal is to scavange in a sporting goods store for supplies while avoiding the walking dead. It’s a 3D which requires that you have the UNITY Web Player. The thing I don’t like about this game is that it seems to be very linear. For example, you got to get to the second floor but the elevator tells you it has no power so you got to turn on the generator but to turn on the generator you have to go find feul, etc, etc. I didn’t get far cause my weapon, a monkey wrench, held together long enough for me to take out 3 zombies. After that the other two got me. It’s ok if you like these type of games. I tried it out and it wasn’t my cup of tea. You can give it a try here. I would have embed it for you to play here. The problem is the frame size was too large for this blog and the game is LOUD! The developpers neglected to add volume controls. Merle Dixon the next Governor in the Walking Dead…November 9th, 2010Sticky: I recorded Episode 3 of the Walking Dead and …November 15th, 2010. …I love my PVR. I loved that reunion scene! I bet everybody was looking forward to that. You could just see Shane’s dick go limp when Rick showed up. Well Shane just be glad you got a piece. Nuff said. Don’t you just find it ironic that Shane says to Lori that she’s shouldn’t take her guilt out on him. Yet he takes out all his guilt and rage out on Ed. Well Ed deserved that ass kicking anyways. I hate guys like Ed, Merle and Daryl. Inbred idiots. Merle’s lucky they’re trekking back for him. I’d a left him and lied. “You shoulda seen it. The zombies were scaling the walls like freaking Spiderman and they ate Merle up.” Whatever! I would have lied my but off. I never would have gone back for Merle. What doe you think is going to happen when you get him back to camp. For guys like Ed, Merle and Daryl might makes right so unless you can kick all they’re butts, well, at the same time. They’re liable to kill you in your sleep. I don’t need that type of pressure. Did you like the ending?? Remember I said it last week. Merle is coming back as the Governor. Watch and see Sticky: Here is a sneak peek at The Waking Dead Episode 4November 17th, 2010The title to this Episode is call Vatos. In this clip Jim, one of the campers, is found digging a hole. That’s right he’s just digging a hole, for no purpose other than to dig a hole. Well this starts freaking everybody out. Check it out! Read the Walking Dead for free…November 21st, 2010If you are new to the show I would advise you to read the comic book series so that you can get a feel for the original zombie story. So to intice new fans of the show Image comics, the publishers of the Walking Dead series, will allow you to read the first issue for free. Check it out… My rant on Episode #4 of The Walking Dead….November 24th, 2010WOw, That is some scriptwriting, the sisters crying over knots and lures. If I didn’t catch the metaphor I would have thought they were crazy. I still have to hand it to them. They can fish.
Now please tell me what’s with the posse going after Jim? It would have been understandable if Dale came back with Shane to talk Jim down. But a whole posse? People are to damn nosey. Can you believe Lori? “Jim you’re scaring the kids”. Jim isn’t scaring no one but you. Your boy wasn’t even interested in what Jim was doing. He was more interested in the fish. Maybe Lori if you kept your nosy butt back at camp your son wouldn’t be scared.tying Jim up to a tree in front of the kids is what would scare them Man, let Jim shovel his dirt in peace. If he passes out, roll his backside into the quarry and call it a day.
Oh my gosh! Glenn’s kidnapping was a good twist. It never occurred to me that the street gangs would still be knocking about. That was good. Then seeing “Big Bad” Phillipe get punk ed by his grandmother!
LMAO my belly is still sore. Ed and Amy were idiots! I know that they’re suppose to be bitten, but for Pete’s sake, try and put up a fight. Don’t stand there see that it’s a zombie and keep staring at it. Run, scream, punch it, kick it. Something! They both just stood there so long. I mean the writers could have wrote in a dialogue for them.
Weapons of choice during a zombie outbreakDecember 5th, 2010
Today on the Walking Dead fourm I shared my choice of weapons for combating the zombie hoards. http://www.walkingdeadforum.com/forum/random-crap/weapon-of-choice/#p94 Inside the “The Walking Dead” – A Look AheadDecember 28th, 2010Looks like AMC is going to fill in some of the gaps till next year with a series of featurettes. The first one they realeased, see below, is called Inside “The Walking Dead” – A Look Ahead. In this clip they are bascicly taking a look at the end of episode 6 and asking things like “will they find a cure” and “where are they going next”? Well don’t expect any answers because you are not going to get any. The one silver lining is that we’re informed that Kirkman is not planning on ending the series anytime soon. So enjoy the clip. AMC keep em comming!
The Walking Dead Comic GameFebruary 21st, 2011
Are you ready to bash zombies along side of Rick? Or leap over buildings in a single bound like Glenn? Well if all goes to plan by the end of this year you should be able to do just that. Robert Kirkman and Telltale Games are partnering up to bring forth a series of episodic Walking Dead games or as I like to call them The Walking Dead Comic Games. Kirkman did confirm that these games will be based on the comic book series.
So if all goes well get your stockings ready. Walking Dead News on January 26, 2011January 26th, 2011
